First race of the season under the belt

I originally planned on the Muncie half to be my first race of season but I let logic take control; Since I haven’t done a half ironman yet, I decided I should do a smaller race to make sure I have all of the pre-season bugs worked out.

I raced the Wendy’s International Sprint Trithlon this weekend at Alum Creek. This is typically one of the bigger races in the area. It also happened to be the only weekend I had free before Muncie so it worked out.

Overall it wasn’t a bad race; I felt pretty good throughout the race. I think I could have done a little better on the bike but considering it was more of a training race, I’ll take it.  Oh and I didn’t get to use my fancy new race wheels either (more on that later). I don’t know how much difference they would’ve made but I will conveniently use that as an excuse. It is always easier to blame the equipment.

  1. Looks like a pretty solid race to me! Well done, and best of luck with your final prep for Muncie. I’m doing my first half iron in August, so interested to see how you do!
